Below is a piece written by Stina Riner. We wanted to share this great article with all of you!
The vaping industry has been plagued with all sorts of rules and regulations lately. It seemed like the war on vaping wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. Now, vapers everywhere are hoping that President Trump could bring about a sense of change and help put an end to some of the crazy rules and regulations that have caused so many problems for so long. Instead of all the regulations threatening to make vape store owners shut their business down, he could deliver a sense of hope.
Vendors and e-cigarette manufacturers everywhere have faced a tough year of rules and regulations from localities and government entities everywhere. Health officials around the country are asking lawmakers to amend all of the current laws that govern traditional cigarettes and extend it out to vaping devices as well. Even though evidence suggests that e-cigarettes can eliminate as much as 95 percent of all the dangers that come with traditional cigarettes, they don’t care. They want things done their way, even if it isn’t accurate or founded. Vape store owners have been fighting for quite some time to eliminate all of these insane laws and regulations, but the fight hasn’t been easy. If it isn’t one thing, it is another.
The hardest hit to the vaping industry came last year. According to the FDA, the biggest threat to manufacturers and vendors came last May when lawmakers pushed for vaping products to be regulated in the same manner as that of a traditional cigarette. This rule hardly seems fair since the two products are entirely different. Vaping products and traditional cigarettes aren’t the same. They contain different ingredients and are made differently altogether. Yet, that doesn’t stop people from trying to throw the two items into the same category.
Many vendors are hoping to get some sense of closure within the next couple years if this new rule ends up being passed. With the Trump Administration in place, they are confident that he is going to end up fighting these new rules. The FDA isn’t going to get anywhere near the amount of cooperation they did from the previous administration, especially when it comes to expanding regulations in various categories. There are a lot of different parties who are looking to challenge these new regulations, which helps bring a shimmer of hope to vape store owners everywhere.
According to the new FDA move, e-cigarette vendors have to submit an application to get their products approved before being put on the market. Vendors have up until August 8, 2018 to get their applications in. Unfortunately, many vendors are worried about having to close their business down because they cannot afford the high cost of the application. Each application could cost anywhere from $100,000 on up to as much as $400,000 each.
How can a vendor be expected to pay such an extravagant amount of money just to continue doing the things they have been doing all along? The hope is that the Trump Administration will be able to give these small business owners the hope they seek during this stressful time.
